About Farallon
Farallon is a human-directed music and visual storytelling project rooted in San Francisco, made with AI tools. It releases original songs, music videos, lyrics and sheet music in dark synth-pop, alternative dance and atmospheric electronics.
Who makes it
Farallon is a project by Will Huggins, who writes, directs and releases the work. The artist Farallon is a fictional character: in her story she was built to remember San Francisco, and the machinery that sustains her is confined to the Farallon Islands, beyond the Golden Gate.
How AI is used
AI tools take part in making the songs, images and films, always under human direction: a person chooses what is made, reviews every result and decides what is released. The page Making Secondhand Heat documents how one music video was produced, including what went wrong, and From Frankenstein to Farallon is a short history of music machines and AI.
